Black Music Month may be over but the celebration of black music will continue this weekend at the 2016 Essence Festival in New Orleans.

Essence Festival (formerly Essence Music Festival) is an annual event that’s been held over the Fourth of July holiday for the past 22 years. More than half a million people make the trek to the Essence Festival, now one of the largest consumer live events in the country. This year’s festival began Thursday and concludes Sunday.

Kendrick Lamar — who lit up the stage with Beyoncé at Sunday’s BET Awards — is one of the headliners along with Mariah Carey. Other performers include Common, Ciara, Andra Day, Babyface, Maxwell and MC Lyte (See the full list of performers below).

The festival isn’t just about great music. The Beauty & Style, Money and Power and the Lifestyle Experience expos are must-visits along with various exhibits, Superlounges, exclusive discussions and advanced screenings.

Visit Essence.com for more information and if you’re going to be in NOLA for the fun, be sure to share your experiences via social media using the #EssenceFest hashtag.
