
“Empire” is adding another veteran screen goddess to its cast and we’re pretty excited about it.
Phylicia Rashad, who many of us know from “The Cosby Show,” is joining the upcoming season of the Fox drama.
Rashad will portray Diana Dubois, a powerhouse from one of New York’s oldest and most prominent black American families, a press release states. Dubois. This matriarch is the mother of Angelo Dubois, an ambitious city councilman played by Taye Diggs, and she’s pushing her baby to higher office.

Apparently she’ll stop at nothing to groom him and exhibits classist behavior toward the street-wise Lyons, the press release continues. After Leslie Uggam’s riveting performance as Lucious Lyon’s mama, I know watching Muva Dubois will be a real treat.
If you can’t wait until the “Empire” season 3 premiere on Sept. 21, check out the new trailer below. ‘Memba, season 2 ended with a lot of drama: Jamal survived getting shot, Lucious half-brother Tariq is a federal agent looking take him down and someone — Boo Boo Kitty or Rhonda — fell to their death after a “Dynasty”-inspired catfight. Oh, and I spied a few familiar faces, including Mariah Carey’s and sis looks good.
