Last Week: Naseer’s stalk went up when he proved he could produce fire, Sydney and Tiffany met, but it’s doubtful they’ll romaine friends, and Ua said, “lettuce vote out the broccoli guy.”

Genie Unbottled
Ooo…we’ve got a hot start to this week’s episode as Genie is not pleased with what went down at Tribal. Shan tries to calm her down by telling her that Brad had an advantage that he didn’t tell her about, so she wasn’t his number one.
Buuut…this annoys JD because Shan gave him a hard time about keeping his advantage a secret. Everything blows up and it ends with JD asking Shan to give him his extra vote back.
Uaaaaa…
Reward Challenge Time: Players will race out with a ball, throw it up a chute, catch it, then dig under an obstacle. From there, they’ll have to shoot the ball up onto a perch. The first tribe to get all of their balls on the perch will win a visit from a survival expert.
Oh good, if Luvu wins, maybe Naseer can teach this guy a thing or two.
The second tribe will win a fish. A lone fish.
Sitting Out: Naseer and Erika. Also, players who sit out the reward challenge will have to play the immunity challenge.
Quick Aside: Tell me JD tries to lay the ball up on the perch NBA-style at least once…
Result: Ua picked up the win, with Yase claiming second. Luvu never got past the chute stage because it was too difficult for Heather.
Aww…Heather breaks down crying, but she’s given a ton of support from Deshawn, Sydney, and Danny. She’s even given a round of applause from the rest of the players and becomes the topic of a Jeff Probst Ted Talk.
Yase’s Promo
Hilariously, Evvie leads the tribe in their own “Previously on ‘Survivor’” voiceover. They also shared a whole fish and got to see a baby turtle migration. It’s a pretty good day for the yellow tribe.
Ua’s Visitor
Fijian survival expert Nathan shows up at Ua camp and he…is…awesome. He scales a palm tree and descends upside down. He breaks a friggin’ coconut with his bare hand.
And with all he’s learned, Ricard isn’t sure why they’re keeping Genie around anymore.
Luvu Shack
We finally get to see what’s going on strategically at Luvu Beach. First of all, Erika thinks her and Deshawn are the only ones actually playing the game. That’s a dangerous assumption.
She’s also worried that Sydney can’t control her emotions. This sentiment is cut with footage of Sydney melting down while making a fire. Boy, that really drives her point home. She shares this opinion with Deshawn who becomes immediately suspect of Erika.
Sure enough, Deshawn lets Sydney knows what’s up. However, Sydney isn’t too surprised because she’s “the threat of threats,” she’s “savvy as hell,” she’s “good looking,” and she’s a “physical threat.”
Note: All of the quotes above are directly from Sydney.
Anywho, Deshawn talks to Danny about possibly throwing the challenge. However, professional athletes aren’t big on throwing competitions. Unless they’re boxing Jake Paul.
Immunity Challenge Time: Players will race through the water while collecting bags of logs. They’ll use the logs to release a key. They’ll use the key to release three rings. The first two tribes to throw all three rings on a series of posts will win immunity. The losing tribe will go to Tribal and forfeit their flint.
Sitting Out: Heather and Sydney
Quick Aside: There was no talk of butterflies or broccoli before the challenge. Sorry, Xander.
Result: Deshawn and Danny tell us that they’re trying to throw the challenge, but Naseer is a force of nature and they can’t make it happen. Yase takes the win with Luvu coming in second.
JD hilariously shouted “Money” on a ringtoss that didn’t end up around the posts. Oof… Shan quipped that he should have said, “Tribal” because that’s where they’re going.
Pre-Tribal Politicking
Genie tells JD that she’ll be rolling her die, so JD should consider voting for Ricard. JD plays along, but he is desperately hoping that Genie goes home.
Shan tries to convince Genie that they should work with Ricard. All of this is a ploy to get Genie to not roll her die.
In the middle of all of this, Shan hatches a plan where she would convince JD to leave his extra vote back at camp or let her hold it.
He bites and we’re treated to another rendition of “Shan’s Evil Theme (Hmm Hmm Hmmm).”
She even quips that she doesn’t want to be a villain, she wants to be an assassin. I like that.
Tribal Time
Early on, Shan mentions that they’re so close that they’re farting and burping on each other. That…might not help the new player recruitment push they have going on right now.
Genie confesses that she’s on the bottom, as she’s been on the outs in all of the votes. So, she intends to throw her Shot in the Dark die.
JD says this might ruin her alliance’s plan because she won’t be able to vote. So, she should pull a Keith Nale and stick to the plan.
Voting Time: JD votes for Genie, and the rest of the votes are secret.
JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an advantage or an idol and…nobody does.
We’ve got one vote for Genie, two votes for JD, and the fifth person voted out of “Survivor 41” is…JD.
On the way out, JD asks for a reason, but he doesn’t get one.
Ouch.
Verdict: No magical trip to Extra Vote Island? A reward challenge? Discussions about tribe dynamics and the social game. Love it!
Power Ranking Results: Michele Fitzgerald had JD in spot eight. I had him in spot six. So, the current score is Team Fitzgerald 31, Team Holmes 32.
