Last Week: Stuff happened, but it probably won’t matter.

Like Sands Through the Hourglass
We kick things off with Erika trying to figure out what to do with that hourglass. I tell you what, if I were there that thing would get smashed quicker than an early boot at the reunion afterparty.
Immunity Challenge Time: The players will use their feet to stack a block tower. The first person to place a flag in the middle of their tower will win immunity.
Before things get underway, Erika shows up and it turns out that she did indeed turn back time, Cher-style.
Color me shocked.
Anywho that means that Heather, Erika, Shan, Liana, Xander, and Tiffany have immunity and will not participate in the challenge.
Result: Ricard picked up the win, just barely edging out Sydney.
Danny says what I’ve been thinking that it’s really unfortunate that he busted his rear end to win that team challenge and it didn’t matter. Deshawn isn’t that upset over it because they signed up to play a twisty game.
So, the early talk has Danny, Sydney, Deshawn and the Ua duo debating between Evvie and Naseer. The points being that Naseer clearly has an idol and Evvie has been running the show at Yase. Deshawn tells us that he had wanted to work with Evvie based on their time at Excessive Advantage Island, but he isn’t willing to make a move to save her at this point.
Danny tries to bring Liana in on this plan, but she isn’t quite ready to take out Evvie. Shan, however, seems to be able to bring Liana on board.
In other news, Xander tells Evvie that he’s willing to play his idol for her. Oof…maybe give it to her now so Liana doesn’t swipe it. Sure enough Tiffany tells Evvie about Liana’s advantage. So…they need to figure something out.
Isn’t it beyond obvious? Give Evvie the idol now or let Tiffany hold it.
Also, their counter-plan is to get out one of the core Luvu three; Deshawn in particular.
And in a moment that had me literally screaming at my TV, Xander told Danny that Evvie is going to be safe.
I…I just can’t.
He also tells Danny about Liana’s Knowledge is Power advantage. So…back to the drawing board for the Luvu/Ua alliance. This also alerts Liana to the fact that not only will she have to guess who has the idol, but that Tiffany spilled the beans about her advantage.
This is really all Shan’s fault. If she hadn’t mentioned the advantage in front of Tiffany, they’d be fine.
Liana tells Deshawn that he’s the target and he immediately freaks and wants to vote for Sydney. Wait, what?! Eventually Liana manages to convince him that they’ll be fine when she steals Xander’s idol.
Evvie is not at all subtle about the fact that she has Xander to bail her out. Which makes me worry that they’re overplaying their hand. If I was Liana I’d assume Evvie or even Tiffany already has the idol.
Oh, Xander even takes it out. Or at least the package it goes in. If there’s a rock in there, I’ll have mad respect for him.
As Evvie talks about how much she has had Xander’s back when he didn’t have a vote, Deshawn points out that she told him everything about Xander’s idol when they were on Excessive Advantage Island.
Oh boy, Liana decides to play the KIP advantage. She reads the paper, then asks Xander if he has an idol. He says he doesn’t, but she can have his fake.
Standing slow clap.
She knew he knew about her advantage! How could she think he’d still be holding his idol!
Sure enough, we get footage of Xander giving his idol and extra vote to Tiffany.
Oof…and as if things weren’t bad enough for Liana, she tells Shan that Evvie is still vulnerable because Xander doesn’t have an idol. To which Shan then has to explain that Evvie has Xander’s idol. And while that’s not accurate, it’s pretty much accurate.
This kicks off a live Tribal, with Deshawn immediately throwing out Sydney’s name. As things go on, we hear Sydney and Deshawn’s name the most.
In a last-minute push, it seems like Deshawn wants to keep the votes on Evvie. At any rate, it’s a blur. Eventually both sides start discussing playing idols for each other. But it’s nearly impossible to tell who’s really working with who.
Voting Time: Tiffany votes for Deshawn, Ricard votes for Evvie, Erika votes for Sydney, Deshawn may have used his extra vote, and the rest are secret.
JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol or an advantage and…Sydney plays her shot in the dark. So, her vote will not count. She opens the scroll and…she was not successful.
Tiff goes to play the idol for Evvie. But, Xander tells her to hold up, bro. Evvie, however, thinks she needs it. Tiffany respects Xander’s wishes and doesn’t play it.
Alright, we’ve got one vote Deshawn, one vote Evvie, one vote Sydney, one vote Deshawn, one vote Evvie, one vote Sydney, one vote Deshawn, one vote Evvie, one vote Sydney, one vote Evvie, one vote Sydney, and the seventh person voted out of “Survivor 41” is…Sydney.
Quick Aside: As the votes were being read, Xander kept telling Evvie she was OK, until the last vote and he said he was sorry. What a rollercoaster.
Apparently the votes were Xander, Evvie, and Tiffany for Deshawn, Danny, Ricard, and Deshawn (2X) for Evvie, and Naseer, Erika, Liana, Heather, and Shan for Sydney.
Verdict: I know that the misplay of the Knowledge is Power Advantage probably won’t matter too much in the long run, but that’s gotta be viewed as a Reichenbach-esque moment. Maybe an 8.5 on the Reichenbach scale. (I love you, Eric!)
Evvie and Xander telegraphed it SO MUCH!
Whew…hopefully with that out of the way we can focus on the social games a little more, but that really hasn’t been the theme this season.
Power Ranking Results: Michele Fitzgerald had Sydney in spot ten, while I had her in spot seven. So, the current score is Team Fitzgerald 52, Team Holmes. 51.
