Last Week: Lindsay won a game of chance, Drea lost a game of don’t-tell-Omar-about-your-special-advantage.
39 26 Days, 18 People, 1 “Survivor Blog
Alright, let’s take a look at the tribe as it currently stands…
The Kula Kula Tribe (wearing purple)
- Jonathan, 29 – Beach Service Company Owner
- Lindsay, 31 – Dietician
- Maryanne, 24 – Seminary Student
- Mike, 58 – Retired Firefighter
- Omar, 31 – Veterinarian
- Romeo, 37 – Pageant Coach
Post Tribal Shenanigans
Lindsay declares last week’s Tribal Council to be the best ever. And honestly, she’s not far off. It was awesome. She’s also psyched that her amulet is now an idol.
Quick Thought: Could Drea have used her Knowledge advantage to ask Lindsay for her amulet? And if so, would it then become an idol?
Later, Omar gives Mike his idol back. Omar also tells us that the next part of his plan is to split Mike and Jonathan up. This will allow him to pick a side and eliminate the other.
However, Mike knows that Omar won’t take him to the end because he’s too likable. Oh, and Maryanne appreciates that Omar is unbeatable too. She tells Mike that she’ll consider using her extra vote to send Omar home.
Dun dun dun…
The next day, Maryanne tells Omar that Mike is getting super paranoid. But, she doesn’t say that he’s targeting anyone in particular
Reward Challenge Time: The players will spin to unspool a coil or rope. They’ll then run across an obstacle course and retrieve keys. The first person to unlock and complete the puzzle at the end will win his or her choice of grilled chicken and veggies or chocolate cake and cookies.
Quick Aside: I would vomit and die if I ate chocolate cake after starving for a few weeks.
Another Quick Aside: Why do they go fast to unspool the rope? Go slow and you won’t be dizzy for the obstacles.
Result: Omar wins reward. However, there’s a twist; the chicken reward allows for two guests. And the chocolate cake reward permits three guests.
I still wouldn’t pick the chocolate.
Omar goes in another direction. He decides to share chocolate cake and cookies with Romeo, Maryanne, and Mike.
Having Their Cake
Interestingly, the quartet is allowed to use forks on the cake. They don’t make them go full Boehlke.
Meanwhile, Jonathan is trying to read Lindsay back at camp. She tells him that Mike is probably next, but Jonathan doesn’t buy it.
Later on, Lindsay lays things out to Mike in this fashion; if Jonathan loses immunity, Mike is safe. If Jonathan wins immunity, Mike is in danger. But she and Omar will be working for him. Again, Mike doesn’t believe this because he is positive that Omar is gunning for him.
Also during this conversation, Lindsay tells Mike that she has an idol.
We learned nothing from Drea.
CUT TO: Mike telling Jonathan that Lindsay has an idol. Mike also follows up with Maryanne about getting rid of Omar. During which he tells her about Lindsay’s idol.
What’s Romeo up to? He’s still on this show, right?
Immunity Challenge Time: The players will race over obstacles, then use puzzle planks to build a staircase. They’ll maneuver a bag of balls up onto a platform. The first person to get both balls through a table maze will win immunity.
Result: It’s close between Lindsay and Jonathan with Lindsay pulling off the win.
Before they head back to camp, Probst tells everyone that tonight is the last night the Shot in the Dark is playable.
Mike reminds us that tonight is also the last night that Lindsay’s idol can be used. The big concern is that she’ll use the idol to save Omar.
So, Mike and Jonathan decide to cast their votes for Romeo in the hopes that the others will split their vote in case Mike plays his idol.
Omar tells Mike that he and Lindsay will be voting for Jonathan. The hope is that between them, Maryanne, and Romeo, they have more than enough to eliminate Jonathan.
Lindsay also says she doesn’t want to play her idol because she doesn’t want it to go back into circulation. That applies to amulet idols?
Maryanne still wants to send Omar packing. She approaches Mike with this plan, but he’s convinced that Lindsay will protect Omar, so they should just boot Romeo.
Maryanne continues to pitch her Omar plan. Romeo is on board, but it doesn’t seem like Mike and Jonathan are going to go for it.
Oh my goodness, so vague. Nothing of interest is said.
Voting Time: No votes are shown.
JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol or an advantage and…nobody does.
Alright, we’ve got one vote for Jonathan, one vote for Romeo, one vote for Jonathan, one vote for Romeo, two votes for Omar, and the thirteenth person voted out and the sixth member of the jury is…Omar.
Quick Aside: Before the final vote was read, Omar asked Maryanne if this was her doing. She confessed and he loved it.
Another Quick Aside: When we see the votes, we learn that Maryanne and Romeo did it themselves with no help from Jonathan or Mike. Wow.
Yet Another Quick Aside: This Monday during a recorded segment for “What to Watch Live,” I pick Omar as the person most likely to win. Oops…
Verdict: Just blown away by Maryanne’s move. I gave her next to no chance of winning last week, and now she’s a top pick. A dynamite move that eliminated a real threat, and she has the benefit of practically having to do it all by herself. (Sorry, Romeo.)
Aaaand…the person she axed is on the jury now singing her praises.
OK, with that being said; I have no idea who’s going to win this thing. I’m thinking Mike and Maryanne play their idols at final five, sending Jonathan or Lindsay home. Then Lindsay or Jonathan win final four immunity and make Mike and Maryanne make fire. Then it’s the challenge star vs. the likable idol holder vs. Romeo.
Who wins that? I’m leaning Lindsay.
