Alright, let’s take a look at the tribes as they currently stand…

The Ika Tribe (wearing blue)

  • Drea, 35 – Fitness Consultant
  • Rocksroy, 44 – Stay-at-home Father
  • Romeo, 37 – Pageant Coach
  • Swati, 19 – Ivy League Student
  • Tori, 25 – Therapist

The Taku Tribe (wearing orange)

  • Jonathan, 29 – Beach Service Company Owner
  • Lindsay, 31 – Dietician
  • Maryanne, 24 – Seminary Student
  • Omar, 31 – Veterinarian

The Vati Tribe (wearing green)

  • Chanelle, 29 – Executive Recruiter
  • Daniel, 30 – Law Clerk
  • Hai, 29 – Data Scientist
  • Lydia, 22 – Waitress
  • Mike, 58 – Retired Firefighter

Post-Tribal Wrap Up

Whooo…Daniel immediately tries to shut down any conversations so they can start fresh in the morning. Yeah, I might not be in a rush to discuss that fiasco either.

Chanelle, on the other hand, wants to talk about how she didn’t blindside anyone because she didn’t have a vote. Come onnnnn…you were part of the plan. It was your idea to split the votes. She later admits to us that she was the driving force behind getting rid of Lydia.

Hai continues his strong gameplay by stating that even though he won, he still feels blindsided and needs to make peace with Mike who he plotted against. They have a conversation and it looks like Mike is willing to team up with Hai and Lydia. Wow, Hai has everyone dying to work with him and he looks like a champ because he refused to turn on Lydia. Five stars, buddy.

Reward Challenge Time: Three members of each tribe will be attached to a braided rope. They’ll untangle it, then use it to move a sled of balls. The first tribe to shoot those balls into a basket will win ten fish.

Sitting Out: Rocksroy and Chanelle

Result: Taku wins reward. Afterwards, Jonathan tells everyone that they’re a strong four. Uh oh… Also, the other tribes are getting frustrated with Jonathan dominating all of the challenges. More uh oh…

At Taku Beach

The tribe is very pleased with the size of their reward. However, they are displeased that Jonathan portrayed them as a solid alliance.

I tell ya, Jonathan is playing a fantastic early jury game.

At Ika Beach

Rocksroy is back to his old habits as he tells Romeo how to build a fire. This is highlighted by Romeo narrating his own montage of Rocksroy bossing him around. Seriously, they should consider making Romeo a producer when this is all over.

In other news, Swati is working on getting rid of Drea because she has an extra vote. It’s almost like you shouldn’t tell the whole wide world about your secret advantages.

Part of this plan involves working with Rocksroy, which Tori finds very challenging because of his personality. But, she goes all in and even tells Rocksroy about Drea’s advantage, which was news to him.

CUT TO: Rocks telling Drea that Tori told him about her extra vote.

Immunity Challenge Time: Two tribe mates will be tethered to a boat. They’ll pull the boat and two other tribe members to a tower that has a pair of keys. They’ll use the keys to retrieve puzzle pieces. The first two tribes to complete the puzzle will win immunity.

Sitting Out: Romeo and Daniel

Before the challenge starts, Maryanne rings the bunny-rabbit-eating-dinner-from-the-mailbox bell again. But, her cries go unanswered.

Result: Taku claims first place after Jonathan pulled them to a significant lead. While Vati was able to come from behind and take second.

Pre-Tribal Politicking

Tori is a very early pick because Swati is annoyed that she told Rocksroy about Drea’s advantage.

Buuut…Romeo is very wary of Swati because she’s clearly playing both sides. And proof of this is she has told Tori, Drea, and Romeo that they’re all her number one. So, she’s not even playing both sides, like literally every conceivable side.

Hilariously, this leaves Drea in a position where she wants to cut them both, but you can only vote out one at a time.

Tribal Time

Swati starts things off with a bang by accusing Tori of trying to blindside Drea. Tori counters by saying it was Swati’s idea.

Rocksroy is surprised because Swati claimed to be very shy.

Romeo is super vague, saying they’ll go for the target that they all agreed upon. The thing that is going to happen is going to happen.

Voting Time: Tori votes for Swati and the rest of the votes are secret.

JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an advantage and…Swati does. She chooses to play her Shot in the Dark. Probst opens her parchment and she is…not safe.

Alright, we’ve got one vote for Swati, one vote for Tori, one vote for Swati, and the fifth person eliminated from “Survivor 42” is…Swati.

Verdict: Kinda like a classic “Survivor” episode! No trip to Excessive Advantage Island, a reward challenge, good times!

And has a tribe ever hated each other the way Vati does? Is Romeo the only person that everyone likes?

  • Romeo – Tori seemed like an easy vote, but Romeo had other plans. He made it happen and didn’t get any heat on him.
  • Hai – My guy is still earning dividends after last week’s smooth gameplay.
  • Mike and Chanelle – Daniel thought he left that Tribal in an alliance with Hai and Lydia, but the move that made sense was everyone turning on him. Good job.
  • Drea – There’s a lesson in this week’s episode for Drea about who she can trust.
  • Tori – You just can’t get any footing. Might be best to be someone’s number for a while.
  • Rocksroy – How are you still bossing everyone around? You’ve seen this show, right?
  • Jonathan – There’s every reason to keep Jonathan before the merge and every reason to boot him immediately after the merge.
  • Daniel – Last week was bad for you. This week wasn’t much better. Nobody needs a merge more than you.
  • Maryanne, Omar, Lindsay, and Lydia – I can’t grade you if you don’t show your work.
