Last Week: Alec was outlasted, Carl got blasted, and both were left flabbergasted.
39 Days, 20 People, 1 “Survivor” Blog
Let’s take a look at the tribes as they currently stand…
The Kalokalo Tribe (wearing blue)
Alison, 28 – Physician
Angelina, 28 – Financial Consultant
Christian, 32 – Robotics Scientist
Davie, 30 – Social Media Manager
Gabby, 25 – Technical Writer
Kara, 30 – Realtor
Mike, 47 – Filmmaker
Nick, 27 – Public Defender
Oh man…here we go…Gabby immediately calls out the others for lying to her about the Alison vote. Nick says he’s glad that Carl’s gone…but why would he be?
When Nick’s alone he says that Christian and Gabby are “so smart they’re dumb.” I’ve been accused of half of that.
The main sticking point with Nick is that the Davids burned 40 advantages to take the numbers back from the Goliaths. He’s very concerned that Gabby will flip next, but Christian says that isn’t possible. Oh…so Christian didn’t watch last week’s preview…
Reward Challenge Time: Two players will be tethered together. They’ll run through an obstacle course and then dig up a set of keys. They’ll use the keys to retrieve a pair of balls. The first team to get the two balls onto a platform will win a barbecue with their loved ones.
Oh wait…the loved ones are here!
First, we get to meet Davie’s mother who lets us know that he would bring her frogs and snakes when he was a kid. She also says he’s her most lovable kid. Oh man, she’d better hope his siblings don’t watch this show.
Alison’s mother is next and they engage in a long, beautiful hug. Adorbs.
Next we get to meet Kara’s brother. She tells us that it’s nice to have someone to trust as opposed to all of the jerks on her tribe. OK, maybe she didn’t use that exact wording.
We get to meet Nick’s dad and Nick shares a kind-of sad story about when he was upset that he didn’t have all of the expensive things that his friends had, but then he learned to appreciate everything his father has done for him. Awww…good dad.
I think it’d be hilarious if Gabby didn’t cry during the family visit, but it was waterworks when her mom came out.
From there we’re introduced to Angelina’s mother, who she promptly trades for some rice. Just kidding, but she does make it a point to tell her mother about last week’s rice maneuver.
Mike’s boyfriend is next…and they weirdly stand apart from each other when Probst is talking to them. The other couples kept hugging each other.
Finally we get to meet Christian’s girlfriend Emily. The duo promptly destroys the adorable meter. Aww…she seems so shy. Maybe she’s freaked out by the dozens of shirtless cameramen around her.
The Teams: Christian and Gabby, Angelina and Nick, Davie and Mike, and Kara and Alison.
The Result: Angelina and Nick pick up the win. They’re allowed to invite two other players, so Nick picks Davie and Angelina chooses Mike. The Mike choice is odd considering how annoyed he seems to be with her.
The quartet seems really happy with how the events played out. In fact, they’re already talking as if this is their dream final four.
Everybody, that is, except for Davie who is a little worried about a Jabeni alliance within the group. Yes, who could forget the powerhouse Jabeni tribe?
Gabby Got Game
Back at camp, Christian is telling Kara that he knew that Emily would feel uncomfortable if he complimented her too much, so he was careful with what he said about her. Kara thinks this is sweet that he puts her needs above his own. However, this makes Gabby realize that she’s basically island Emily.
Soooo…Gabby drops a bomb to Alison, telling her that she thinks it’s time to get rid of Christian.
And good for you, Gabby. Your only path to the win is with Christian on the jury and you being the person responsible for putting him there. Is now the right time with him holding an idol and an even number of voters? We’ll see.
Also, Kara reminds me of Mira Sorvino. Is it just me?
Immunity Challenge Time: The players will stand on a beam while lifting a pole that’s holding up a bucket of water. The last person standing wins immunity.
Result: Kara bested Davie to win immunity.
Quick Aside: There was a funny moment where Angelina and Alison were trying to instruct Nick on how to get his pole into the right position, but they wouldn’t give the same advice to Christian.
Everybody seems on board with sending Christian home, while telling Christian that Alison is the target.
However, the barbecue buddies (Nick, Angelina, and Mike) like the idea of splitting the vote with Gabby in case Christian plays his idol.
To further gum up the works, Davie worries that he won’t have a shield if Christian is gone. So, he reaches out to Christian to warn him that Gabby has turned on him.
Christian tries to repair the damage he did with Nick, but it doesn’t seem like that bridge is unburn…able…
Nothing too concrete is said here except for Gabby saying it’s time for her to be more confident about her moves.
Voting Time: Gabby votes for Christian and the rest of the votes are lost to the magic of editing.
JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol and…Christian does…for himself!
Alright, we’ve got five votes for Christian, one vote for Alison, one vote for Gabby, and the thirteenth person eliminated from “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” and the sixth member of the jury is…Gabby.
Oh…and Mike and Angelina were the “Gabby” votes.
Verdict: Seriously, kudos to Gabby for making a move. She was playing for second place as long as Christian is in the game.
That being said, editing-wise who can win this thing other than Christian, Davie, or maybe Nick? Maybe Alison if she went on an immunity run?
Power Rankings Results: Bradley Kleihege had Gabby in spot six, I had her in spot seven. So, the current score is Team Bradley 102, Team Gordon 119.
