Last Week: Ron gave Rick his expired menu and hoped he’d be fooled, but the reporter found an idol and the teacher was schooled.

Let’s take a look at the tribe as it currently stands…

The Vata Tribe (wearing red)
Aurora, 32 – Divorce Lawyer
Gavin, 23 – YMCA Program Director
Julie, 46 – Toymaker
Lauren, 21 – Student
Rick, 33 – Morning News Anchor
Victoria, 23 – Waitress

Post Tribal Shenanigans

We meet up with the final six where Rick is telling everyone that his idol came from the Edge of Extinction. Clever, but Lauren has to know that there are idols on the beach.

Sure enough, Lauren tells everyone that she thinks Rick is lying. Of course, she doesn’t tell anyone WHY she thinks he’s lying.

Devens begins his idol hunt the next morning, and…as if we’ve learned nothing from Andrea Boehlke…the others don’t follow him around.

Sure enough, Rick finds another idol. Seriously?! Didn’t any of you watch “Heroes vs. Healers vs. Whatever the Other ‘H’ Was”?!

Reward Challenge Time: The players will shoot a ball up into a chute, then race to catch it when it rolls down. They’ll do this twice. Then they’ll dig under a beam with their two balls and attempt to shoot them up onto a ledge. The first person to complete this task will win a helicopter ride to a cookout.

Result: Gavin picks up the win, he chooses to take Victoria and Lauren with him. Aurora is not pleased.

At the Reward

The helicopter ride actually takes them over Vata beach where Aurora is lying on the beach, probably fuming. That’s just cruel.

During the meal, the trio agrees that Julie will be the next target if Rick wins immunity. However, Lauren isn’t in love with this idea because she feels like she can beat Julie in the end.

At the Edge of Extinction

The Extinctioners are greeted by a box that contains letters they wrote to themselves before the game.

This proves to be a good motivation for everyone except for Reem who for some reason yells at her letter.

Just kidding.

The highlight is easily Aubry calling herself a “unique wierdo.”

At Vata Beach

The rest of the tribe finally realizes that they should be following Rick around. He hilariously starts running around to freak them out. He even weirdly tries to scare Aurora.

Immunity Challenge Time: The players will slide letter tiles into a target, then use handles to transport the tiles across a balance beam. From there, the first person to complete the word puzzle (“Not Living on the Edge Tonight”) will win immunity.

Result: Rick picked up the win.

Pre-Tribal Politicking

Julie knows she’s on the chopping block, so she and Rick agree to vote together for Aurora.

Julie approaches Lauren about working together since they have a good relationship. Lauren thinks Julie would be easier to beat in front of a jury, so she floats the idea to Gavin. He seems into it, be he wants to make sure Victoria will go along.

Victoria does not love this new information because she knows Lauren wants to take Julie to the end.

Tribal Time

Holy cow, the first fifty minutes of this Tribal was everyone saying how much they want Devens gone. Way to convince the jury that they should vote for him if he gets to the end.

Eventually, Rick busts out his idol and tells everyone that he’s going to play it for Julie, then vote for one of the four.

Gavin is worried Rick will use the idol because he has already played one for David.

Devens also makes a great point that someone will be returning to the game and it could make next week’s vote three vs. three if Julie is still around.

Voting Time: Rick votes for Aurora, Aurora votes for Julie, and the rest of the votes are lost to the magic of editing.

JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol and…nobody does.

Alright, we’ve got one vote for Aurora, one vote for Julie, two votes for Aurora, and the thirteenth person voted out of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” and the two hundredth member of the jury is…Aurora.

On the way out, Aurora grabs the torch and heads to the Edge of Extinction…cause…why not. The challenge to get back in is probably tomorrow.

Verdict: Uh…boy… The odds of someone winning this game who has already had their torch snuffed is stressing me out. Which is a shame because Rick is an entertaining player who wins challenges, has clever strategies, and gives good interviews.

I’m just not feeling it.

Rick: Found an idol, won a challenge, made an ally, looked like a rockstar in front of the jury. Well done.
Julie: Everytime I count Julie out, she comes bouncing back.
Lauren: She got what she wanted, but she probably won’t get credit for it.
Gavin and Victoria: The jury is going to think Rick schooled you both and neither of you seemed too jazzed to vote Aurora out in the first place.

Power Ranking Results: Gabby Pascuzzi had Aurora in spot two, while I had her in spot one. So, the current score is Team Gabby 95, Team Gordon 96.
