“Survivor: Edge of Extinction” Power Rankings Round 10: Family Matters Edition

“Survivor: Edge of Extinction” (CBS)

The Rules: Each week our two combatants will create separate power rankings. The ranking of the person who is voted out of the next episode will determine the number of points the players will earn. For example, if Rick is voted out this episode, Gabby Pascuzzi will receive seven points and Gordon Holmes will receive six points. At the end of the season, the person with the most points will be named the “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” Power Rankings Challenge Champion!

Last Week: Gabby Pascuzzi had Wardog in spot six, while Gordon Holmes had him in spot seven. So, the current score is Team Gabby 88, Team Gordon 91.

Quick Note: Rankings are not based on who the player thinks is most likely to win. The smart strategy is to rank players based on how safe you think they are in the upcoming vote.

Gabby’s Score: 88

1. Julie: This is what I love about Julie: despite being self-admittedly emotional, she doesn’t take votes too personally and she makes smart decisions. Though no one thinks she is playing, she most definitely is.1. Lauren: You’re always going to be the safest person in the game as long as you’ve got that idol in your pocket. And now that you have Julie in your corner, you can start devising a way to get to the end with beatable competition.
2. Lauren: Her underdog story has been one of the most satisfying arcs this season. She went from having her name written down almost every tribal, to having people who actively want to work with her, like Julie.2. Victoria: I like Victoria a lot. I think she’s smart and savvy, but it feels like the game is happening to her and she isn’t, to use our new favorite term, a pilot. At this point, I think it’d be worth risking your under-the-radar safety to earn some jury points.
3. Victoria: Although we haven’t seen much of her lately, she’s been on the right side of the votes every time she’s voted. She’s playing a good game. Yet no one is targeting her.3. Julie: Julie really impressed me last week. Not only did she take Ron back, but she totally let him off the hook, saying it was good if they don’t always vote together. And now that she’s buddying up with Lauren she’s in a great position to take over the game if she ever sends Ron packing.
4. Aurora: I recognize the pattern of what is happening to Aurora. She was a constant target, then suddenly… she’s not. We’re in the endgame now, and there are bigger fish to fry. She may have slipped through to the finale.4. Ron: The return of Chekhov’s advantage menu! I’m going to laugh my face off if Rick uses it to try to steal a reward.
5. Ron: He does an absolutely masterful job of bringing people back to his side after he blindsides them. First, he returns Aurora’s extra vote to gain back her trust. Now he seems to be giving Rick his expired advantage from the marooning? Very clever.5. Aurora: It’s a tale of two Auroras; one day she coming up with clever strategies and the next she’s getting in useless fights over rice. When it comes time for the Rons and Julies to lock down their final threes, I don’t think she’ll be invited.
6. Gavin: My one wish for Gavin at the beginning of the season was that he’d get to see his wife at the loved one’s visit, whom he married mere days before flying out to play. Now it looks like that wish will become a reality. I hope that’s not where his story ends.6. Rick: Everybody is gunning for you…and rightfully so. Now you’ve got Ron slipping you fake advantages and people digging through your bag. I’m thinking you need an immunity win or you’ll be booking a return trip to the Edge of Extinction.
7. Rick: “As soon as one of us goes out, it’s going to be a frenzy.” That was Rick’s warning to Ron and Wardog about what would happen if one of the three big threats went home last episode. I think his warning is about to become a prophecy, unfortunately. The Final 7 is the perfect time to take out a jury and challenge threat like Devens. 7. Gavin: Last week’s promo hinted at Rick’s demise so much that I have to imagine he has another immunity win up his sleeve. And with his crazy puzzle skills, that’s not hard to imagine. So, with him off the table, Gavin seems like the next most likely target.
