Last Week: The tribes were divided, Karishma felt chided, and Missy and Aaron were blindsided.

39 Days, 20 People, 1 “Survivor” Blog

Alright, let’s check out the tribe as it currently stands.

The Lumuwaku Tribe

  • Dan, 48 – Talent Manager
  • Dean, 28 – Tech Sales
  • Elaine, 41 – Factory Worker
  • Elizabeth, 26 – Olympic Medalist
  • Janet, 59 – Chief Lifeguard
  • Karishma, 37 – Personal Injury Lawyer
  • Lauren, 28 – Nanny
  • Noura, 36 – Entrepreneur
  • Tommy, 26 – 4th-Grade Teacher

Post Tribal Shenanigans

Lauren is giddy that Tommy, her number one, was safe from the dual Tribal. While Karishma says she feels like doing a happy dance because she was able to get rid of two of her biggest targets.

Unfortunately, we see no such happy dance.

If this post-Tribal was an SAT question it would be: Hot is to cold as Karishma is to Elizabeth. Our former Olympian knows she’s on the outs now that her two besties are gone.

Island of the Idols

A boat shows up at Lumuwaku Beach and invites someone to take a trip. That someone must be decided by a unanimous vote. Lauren says she’d like to go and nobody seems to have a problem with it. However, after the fact we learn that Karishma is annoyed because she wanted to go, but was afraid to speak up because Lauren had already expressed enthusiasm. Sorry, that’s on you, Karishma.

Anywho, Lauren meets up with Rob and Sandra and they offer her an idol that’s good for the next two Tribals if she can pick the winner of the next immunity challenge. But, if she picks wrong, she’ll lose her vote at the next Tribal.

They tell her that the immunity challenged will be the one from Ghost Island where the players had to stand in one place and hold a bar. Wait, an early post-merge immunity challenge that involves standing somewhere and holding something? I don’t believe it.

They also tell Lauren that there is the opportunity for people to opt out of the challenge and eat breakfast food.

Lauren wavers, so Rob sweetens the deal by letting her pick two people. She eventually chooses Noura because she’s a yoga person and a vegan who won’t eat bacon and Elizabeth because she’s on the outs.

Dean’s Art Class

People are still wondering if the “advantage” that Jamal gave Dean is a fake. So, he uses the flag paint and makes a copy of it to play at Tribal. Wait, so he’ll play the fake-fake advantage, Probst will say it’s fake, then he’ll still have the real-fake advantage and nobody will know about it?

My head hurts.

The Great Breakfast Caper

Back at camp, Lauren tells everyone about the upcoming immunity challenge and the opportunity to sit out and eat. Later, she tells Tommy the full story. He agrees to help her get everyone else to sit out.

So, the duo does their best to convince people to join them for brunch. Honestly, it wouldn’t be hard to get me to sit out for breakfast food.

Immunity Challenge Time: The players will stand in one place and hold a bar. The last person standing wins immunity.

Sitting Out: Tommy, Lauren, Dan, Dean, Elaine, and Janet.

Result: Noura picks up the victory, so Lauren gets the two-Tribal idol.

Quick Note: Karishma played and lasted 45 seconds.

Post-Tribal Politicking

It looks like it’s going to come down to Elizabeth or Karishma. The thinking being that Karishma doesn’t do anything around camp and is bad at challenges vs. Elizabeth who is a strong competitor.

Elizabeth and Noura are worried that Karishma might have an idol, so they straight up steal her bag and root through it. They don’t find anything though, because Karishma’s idol is in her armpit.

Gross. Smart, but gross.

The early talk is a Karishma/Elizabeth split vote, but Karishma is just driving everyone crazy. Karishma literally goes to talk to Elizabeth immediately after Dan told them they were voting for Elizabeth. No subtlety.

Tribal Time

Nothing terribly interesting or concrete was said other than Karishma and Elizabeth feeling like they’re on the bottom.

Voting Time: No votes are shown.

JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol and…Dean plays his fake-fake advantage. Sure enough, it’s fake. However, then Karishma plays her very real idol for herself.

Buuuut…then Lauren plays her own idol for herself.

OK, we’ve got seven votes for Karishma, one vote for Janet and one vote for Elizabeth. A tie!

Voting Time Part Deux: Once again, no votes are shown.

Probsty tallies and returns, we’ve got three votes for Elizabeth and the twelfth person voted out of “Survivor: Island of the Idols” and the sixth member of the jury is…Elizabeth.

Verdict: It’s a little tough to get back into the swing of things on this show, but that was a great episode for Lauren.

  • Lauren: Getting that idol was a thing of beauty. And using it when she did was smart. That vote could have easily gone her way.
  • Tommy: Helping Lauren with her plan is just strengthening that bond. Good job.
  • Dean: The fake-fake advantage plan was pretty clever. Too bad it wasn’t done to protect a real advantage.
  • Noura: Challenge machine, digging through people’s bags. She’s tough to predict, but she’s trying her best.
  • Karishma: Yay, you saved yourself with an idol. Boo, literally everything else.
  • Dan, Janet, and Elaine: I can’t give you full credit if you don’t show your work.
