What To Watch: ‘American Ninja Warrior’ & Binge ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race!’

MONDAY

“So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation“: While the LGBT quotient may be somewhat lessened due to the fact that the contestants are now kids, we’ll still have fab choreographers and one of my favorites, Cat Deeley, who loves her gays and will be back hosting as well as judge/exec producer Nigel Lythgoe and judges Paula Abdul and Jason DeRulo. Mondays at 8pm on Fox.

TUESDAY
“Maya and Marty“: Fabulous actor/comedians Maya Rudolph and Martin Short doing sketches, singing songs and bringing fun to our TVs? SIGN. ME. UP. (Tuesdays at 10pm on NBC)

WEDNESDAY
“American Ninja Warrior“: Okay, so on the surface the NBC testosterone-driven competition show may not be a show we’d call ‘gay-centric’ but with buff dudes (and hot women) trying to make it through the impossible course, it’s a marvel of a show to watch. And there have been gay contestants in the past who have competed so let’s hope there will be more in the new season, which kicks off this Wednesday at 8pm on NBC and Esquire.

THURSDAY
“Orphan Black“: The fourth season continues and is now racing towards the June 16th finale but you can bet your clone twin that things are only going to get more intense, dangerous and complicated for Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) and her legion of clones, including lesbian clone Cosima. Plus, the show is always better when Sarah’s gay BFF Felix (Jordan Gavaris) shows up. (I offer one word for Felix – SPINOFF! Just sayin’.) You can catch up on episodes here on XFINITY TV or watch on BBC America on Thursday at 9pm).

FRIDAY

It’s the weekend and what better time to watch the crazy, hilarious, fun and sometimes touching latest season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race?“ We’ve got the entire eighth season with RuPaul along with guest judges like Nicole Richie, Faith Evans, Debbie Harry, Marc Jacobs, out entertainer/YouTube star Todrick Hall, Vivica A. Fox and Amy and David Sedaris. Plus, of course, the Queens in contention to win the title of “American’s Next Drag Superstar” are hilarious in their own rite. Binge the entire season right here on XFINITY ON DEMAND and have an amazing time!

SATURDAY

No matter where you are, it’s Pride Month and we’ve got so many amazing titles right here on XFINITY so you don’t need to go far to celebrate the LGBT world in film. I’m going to go international with this week’s pick, “XXY,” which you can watch XFINITY ON DEMAND. What’s it about? Here’s the description of this Argentinian gem: “Even after escaping to a remote stretch of the Argentine coast, a teenager (Ines Efron) born with both male and female genitalia becomes the focus of unwanted attention.”

SUNDAY

“Game of Silence” has gone to places we could not have predicted and I’m guessing the series finale (unfortunately, NBC didn’t renew the series for a second season), we’ll have to see how things wrap up for a group of adult male friends who started out seeking revenge on crimes against them when they were teens but ended up in even more drama and trouble. Will we get a happily ever after or are things going to get even worse.
